Target audience
Design a visual identity for an audible original title named ‘Out West’ that stands out and makes noise.
It brings gore, violence and excitement to the audience by offering a sense of escapism into a whole new realm of true crime. The audience is immersed straight into the chaos of the Wild West by introducing them to some of the period’s most notorious outlaws, centring around one of the most famous gunfights known to history.
Adults aged 35-54 without children, looking for fun, engaging content to listen to whilst multi-tasking.
Podcast Artwork
This cover title for ‘Out West’ throws the audience into the centre of the action of the bloody and brutal period of the Wild West.
The composition was inspired by the infamous 30-second gunfight at O.K. Corral in 1881. Here, eight guns point at their target: the ‘Out West’ podcast logo that bears bullet wounds from the shootout. The guns draw the eye to the podcast's title, clearly communicating the true crime genre to the audience.
The gun imagery is unmistakeably Western: bold, deadly and steeped in history. The handwritten-styled text next to the guns naming their famous owners introduces the audience to key characters of this era, piquing the audience’s curiosity to learn more.
This Western identity is reinforced by the logo typography which is classic for this time. Blood splatters conjure intrigue and lure in true crime enthusiasts. The stained sepia background is historical and unnerving.
